Last Day

Well, how slack have I BEEN! Thought I better put a post in on my last day...

Comment I made on Lou's blog:
"I totally forgot about no junk food Mondays but guess what, I DID IT ANYWAY! Must be a change in thinking... wait this is going in my blog that I have been so slack in keeping up to date..."

Yeah so I kept junk-free Monday without even knowing it! Surely that is a sign of healthier thinking! Plus I have started my new fitness regime now. I went to that infamous Tummy, hips and thighs class the other night, I haven't been able to work properly for 2 days now my legs are so sore!! But that's gotta mean it is working, right? :S

So from next week onwards, Mondays I will be doing THT's with my cousin at the gym for 45 min, Tuesdays between my T&A class and my Small Business class I will be doing a half an hour dance/gym lesson, then on Wednesdays I am now free from dance so I will have to think of something here, and then Thursdays at 5:30 I'll be doing another dance/gym session and then Friday's will be salsa dance lessons for an hour. Also hoping to fit dog walking in on a Saturday morning too! Too ambitious? Naaahhhh! I just have to do it for 6 weeks in a row, isn't that how long you said Lou to create a habit?

So wish me luck! Now I'll start preparing myself for after work celebratory drinks! Woo!!

Day 17 - Sunday

Brekky: Like a broken record... 2 x toasts, no WAIT!!! I HAD coco pops, not much better but at least it wasn't BREAD!
Lunch: Watermelon, LOTS! And a cup of soup, one of the low calorie ones.
Tea: Pizza hut... it was horrible, all of it. I love pizza but this was horrible. New owners, terrible food, just horrible. Coke was flat and warm, pizzas were all the same and tasted HORRIBLE! Salad looked like it had been sitting in there for days. Never going back... ick.

Confessions: None, that's all I ate! Drank water for the rest of the day!

I'm watching American Idol auditions on austar at the moment and some of these people really make my ears hurt!

Well, back onto the topic of choice... I read this really good tip today, and though I don't have a daughter I think I could adapt the concept to myself!

"My New Year's resolution was the same every year - lose weight and improve my health and fitness... I was determined that 2009 would be different so came up with a new fitness regime which suits my lifestyle and budget down to the ground. Instead of paying $743 for an annual gym membership, now every day my daughter and I do something different:

Monday- Bike Riding - We go and ride our bikes on the local bike track... This allows me to get a great cardio workout while teaching her balance, improving her riding confidence.

Tuesday- Obstacle Course - I bet you've never looked at the local park in this light but that's exactly what it is! Chasing kids, climbing ladders... is an all over bodyworkout...

Wednesday- Aqua Aerobics - I was paying $14 for one Aqua Aerobics session a week ($728 a year) but we've just discovered our local continental pools which are not only heated all year round but are FREE. My daughter and I play tag in the shallow end... Not only is this burning calories but it has improved my daughter's swimming.

Thursday- Running - We bought a giant bubble blower for $5.00 at the school fete! Armed with this and a bottle of cheap detergent we head down to the park and take it inturns to blow bubbles while the other person chases them. You would be surprised how much this gets the heart rate up - I never fail to work up a sweat!

Friday- Workout Video - We got a stack of old workout videos from the op shop for around $10. We've got yoga, aerobics, light weights and even some old music videos. Every weekmy daughter chooses one and we do it together in the lounge room. The varietykeeps her interested and they also come in handy in the wet weather (the music videos are especially fun as it gives you an opportunity to get dressedup like rock stars and dance up a storm)!"

What a good bunch of ideas! They obviously work for her, but I'm not sure I could chase bubbles around a park on my own, I may look slightly crazy... but now I have made a challenge to myself, to think up something like that that suits me for each of the week days!

Oh, and Loubie, what do you think about "Junk Free Mondays"?

Day 16 - Saturday

Brekky: Take a guess? 2 x toasts and a milo
Lunch: Ham, cheese and tomato toasty and half a chocolate milkshake. (I'm a bit addicted to them at the moment, I need to switch them right out with water I think.)
Tea: Homemade spaghetti YUM YUM YUM!

Confessions: Another of those delicious mousses mum left in the fridge, why can't she just EAT them already! SHEESH! Coronas at Loubies... and toast when I got home! What a day...

Exercise: None, unless you count shopping? I bought some gorgeous new lamps, cost me way too much, money I DEFINITELY can't afford when I am trying to save up for my car...

Day 15

Stretching for memories now...

Brekky: 2 x toast ( I HAVE to break this habit!)
Lunch: Chicken, avocado and cheese sandwich from the cafe, and a iced coffee (which was not a good idea on a hot day.
Tea: Homemade pizzas again as we were running late and I had a heap of leftovers from the dinner the night before!

Confessions: A little packet of chocolate mousse mum had in the fridge.

Exercise: Running around after people all ddaayyy!

Day 14

Well I have discovered that not having internet means that my blog gets ignored for a while... but hey, at least I catch it up! I have now restored internet so here we go...

Today -
Brekky: 2 x toast an milo (trying to stay off coffee because it is giving me headaches..)
Lunch: Naughty, naughty, naughty... so we went out for lunch, and I had Fish and Chips, the really bad kind with all the batter... ahhh
Tea: Homemade pizzas! They were pita bread bases with lots of vegetables, little amount of meat and wayyy too much cheese...

Confessions: None! It was way too hot to feel like eating today!

Exercise: Well it was supposed to be dance tonight but since the dance studio is upstairs in a non-vented room it was about 50 degrees in there so it was cancelled! So the only exercise I got was sweating in the sauna that was my life for the day!

I got my hair cut today. Bit scary at first. I was NOT sure about the fringe, a bit blunt for my tastes, so I just don't know, but I am slowly getting used to it. I think...

Gaiam and Pedometers

Ok so I was watching Martha and they had these cool rings that have a certain resistance in them that you can carry around anywhere and use them in all sorts of ways to do resistance training. They are used in pilates and are made by either 'pilates' or 'gaiam'. I'm yet to find them, but I am looking and will put the link up on the website!

The second thing I have to say is I think we should get pedometers, because I think it would inspire me to walk just to reach my quota!

And lastly, I was wondering, what if we try banning ALL junk food for just ONE day a week! I was thinking Mondays because we have work, (being totally selfish) I don't go out that night so I don't have to eat takeaway, and it will be a good start to the week and make us feel good! What do you think?

Alright, WHEW! That's it for me tonight!

Day 13...

TODAY! YAY!

Ok so quickly with the food:
Brekky: 2 x toast, juice and ovaltine, no coffee today.
Lunch: BBQ foccacia and chocolate milkshake (Arg! I've gotta go back to toasted sandwiches and water!! NEXT TIME! Make me LOU!!)
Dinner: Well, I slept through dinner! I was totally exhausted, don't cope well in the heat. So when I woke up I had 2 pieces of toast, surprise surprise!
Confessions: Well, my aunt offered me a piece of boston bun, I didn't think about it and took a small half a slice, and then I remembered and stopped RIGHT THERE!

Exercise: Zip. I am lacking on exercise... but watch out for my next post!

Day 12 - Australia Day

Ok! So at late notice we decided to have a BBQ at Rhett's place. So I didn't have any breakfast that morning so:
Lunch: BBQ hamburgers with bbqed corn YUM!
Dinner: Noodle Box (small box with a bottle of water!)
Confessions: We did go to Ice Rock afterwards and got icecreams BUT I got the kiddies size so isn't that at least trying?

Exercise: Well we went to the lake for the fireworks and I wanted to walk it before they started but noone else was keen. We did have to go back to the car to get the picnic blanket though so I volunteered and tried to get some walking in! Would have only been 15 min in total though.

Day 11 - Sunday

Brekky: 2 x toast
Lunch: None
Dinner: Chicken caeser salad (home made mmmm!)
Confessions: Ok so Sunday I committed the worst crime, I TOTALLY forgot about a dessert date Rhett and I had with our friends! I put it in my phone for the following week so not even that reminded me, and I was supposed to meet them at 7 and at 7:48pm they messaged me to see where we were, WELL attack of the MAJOR guilts! So we flew over there and ate Chocolate Cherry Ripe pudding with ice cream YUMMMMMM! And drank some wine, and played board games.

Exercise: Unless you count circling the board with your ship as exercise, none.

Day 10 - Saturday

Ok so Saturday... what did I do Saturday...

I have to say, the one thing I am noticing is that I drink a whole lot more water! It has been great! Really makes me think twice before grabbing something other than water, knowing I have to confess it in here!

Brekky: 2 x toast and an ovaltine
Lunch: Nothing..
Dinner: Stew and toast

Confessions: I don't remember I'm afraid, but I'm sure there were some, there always are! :(

Day 9

Whew! Getting there!

So this was D Day!! The day when my life was nearly over and I was ready to jump through a window! GRRRR!! How can people be so ... HORRIBLE! I think either way I go, I won't have a job in 12 months which is F A N T A S T IC!!! NOT!

So... down to business...

Brekky: 2 x toasts (Still haven't started eating a healthier breakfast, or at least lower in carbs!)
Lunch: BBQ foccacia and a full fat chocolate milkshake :( ahh but they are so good!
Dinner: Well... it was dinner with the girls while I babysat, their mum was going to cook (which is awesome because she is SUCH a good cook! YUMM!!) and then she got tired and didn't so I had to take the girls out, soooo maccas it was, of course. So I had a 6 chicken nugget meal with sweet and sour sauce. I'll let the guilt settle here...
Confessions: WELL... I have a rather big one... I was so upset about that STUPID email, I went to Rhett's after babysitting and asked for chocolate. He didn't have any so we went to the supermarket and he bought me some, and some cheese and biscuits... and then we took it back to his place and watched a movie and ate it! I ate about 1/4 of the cheese with biscuits, and 2 x chocolates, so for a binge session it wasn't TOO bad! But yeah...
Exercise: Chasing after kids and playing with them!

Day 8

Ok so now we are on to Thursday I guess...

So I had this day off because I was sick again. Sorry family who now have it!!

So... I woke up late and stayed in bed almost the whole day, which was quite frustrating cause I wanted to get up but didn't have the energy.

Brekky: None
Lunch: None
Dinner: Stew
Confessions: I had some pepsi throughout the day to try to settle my stomach. I did drink a lot of water too though...

Exercise: None none none... totally slack and lazy, and sick today.

Day 7 - Stats

Yay! I finally have internet access back! So now I can catch it all up! Loubie, I am going to use your posts to help remind me where I was and what I ate! The funny thing is, I am kinda addicted to this thing, I know I am slack on the posts but I blog in my head all day! I eat something or think something and think about what I will write in the post...

So for a catchup and a stretch of my memory...

So today was the celebration of the other project going live...

Brekky: Not a lot, a juice and skinny coffee, still wasn't well
Lunch: Vegetable soup, no toast
Dinner: Well, I remember this night, cause I went to dance and I wasn't feeling well, and it was REALLY hot, and I usually wait til after dance to eat so I can eat with Rhett, so I waited, and since I only had a little bit of soup during the day I was starving by then, and it wasn't until almost 10pm we went to get dinner after dance, and then Rhett said he wanted to go home for dinner!!! I was so disappointed and sad that I cracked it and bought maccas. Stupid I know, and I knew it 5 minutes after I ate it cause it did NOT react well with someone who had been sick for almost a week! So yeah... eating my feelings...
Confessions: Besides the maccas I did have 2 party pasties at the drinks, and a Stella.

So all in all, not a great day for me! However, I did do an hour of dancing! And that was exhausting, especially in the heat!

Day 7 - thoughts

Argg!! It just lost my post! Stupid thing...

I forgot to mention Loubie...

A new Angus and Robertson clearance centre has opened at the bottom of Central Square where the newsagent used to be, and they have a book in there called Healthy and Easy Lunch ideas or something like that.
I didn't get a chance to look at it as I was in a rush but I was interested in it too as I never have any idea what interesting foods I can have for lunch that are healthy too! So I will try to find it and we can have a look if it is any good!

Day 6 (caught up!!)

Ok so yesterday (Day 6) I was sick, oh so sick…. It was ick… hehe

So it was a very simple and quick food summary:
Brekky: None
Lunch: None
Dinner: Egg sandwich (Then vomited it up… so does it really count?)
Confessions: None
Water: LOOOADDSS!

I’m not sure what I need to succeed in this. A good kick up the butt to start would be nice. A personal trainer would be a good idea, I work for other people but don’t seem to push myself a lot.

My musings are short and sweet today, worrying too much about whether I’ll need to spew in a minute rather than my philosophical inner thoughts. Anyways, looks like important people starting to walk around so I better get off blogger!

Ciao!

Day 5 (a bit late I know..)

So I have discovered I'm not great at keeping this blogging thing going on a day by day basis, unless I'm at work, and then it is a great procrastinator!

Ok so a bit of catch up…

Monday -
Brekky: 2 pieces of toast with homemade Tasmanian blueberry jam YUMMMM!
Lunch: Vice Sous (a soup) that my aunty makes of mostly leeks YUMMMMER! And no toast WOO!
Dinner: Well I went to the Delts concert so dinner was out in Melbourne – Poached chicken filled with bocconcini and sun dried tomatoes on sweet potato mash YUMM!!

Confessions: NONE! Thanks to a little thing called a tummy bug…

So one of my friends I went to dinner with I haven’t seen in years. She is now running triathlons and made me feel rather guilty for my LACK of exercise! So I have decided 30 minutes of SOMETHING every day. So here is my starting plan:
Mondays: 45 min exercise class at gym with Becky
Tuesdays: Will be starting my Small Business class on this night so hopefully I can fit a walk in somewhere (yet to figure this one out…)
Wednesdays: Salsa dance – 1 hour
Thursdays: Treadmill 30 min
Fridays: Don’t know yet…
Saturdays: We are going to enrol in a dog training course in the mornings either today or Sunday!

So still a few things to sort out but if I at least start it will hopefully get the ball running. Unlike you Loubie I just can’t drag myself out of bed in the morning to go to the gym! I wish I was that disciplined!

Day 2 - 4? - I'm losing track...

I've been pretty slack with my blogging for this weekend! So sorry everyone (Audience of 1!).Ok well I better give the food summary first:

Confessions: Thursday night - Becky (my cousin) woke me up in the middle of the night as she had brought jam donuts home for everyone. In my sleepy befuddled state I ate one. ARRGGG!! After such a good day too :(.

Friday -
Brekky: 2 pieces of toast
Lunch: Chicken soup & 2 bread
Dinner: Chicken roll (Was going to get chips to go with it but I refrained and got no butter and only a small amount of gravy!)
Confessions: 1 ice cream at the movies... :(

Saturday -
Brekky: None
Lunch: Baked beans on toast
Dinner: BBQ (Mousse for dessert that I only had one spoonful of to be polite!)
Confessions: Well I wouldn't have any but SOMEONE made me feel guilty for not eating the chocolates that were offered to me! So I ate ONE and then I think it had nuts in it and I had a rash all the next day so who's fault is THAT!! (Yeah partly mine I know, but I am working on the self control thing! I have discovered, I think I eat more food for the sake of not hurting other peoples feelings than I do for myself! Hmm..)

Sunday -
Brekky: 2 pieces of toast (I'm thinking that since I eat so much other bread maybe I should switch brekky to cereal, but is that just as bad? I don't know.)
Lunch: Coco Pops (TERRRIIBBLLLEE!!!)
Dinner: Take away pizza (It was for celebratory purposes!! Eating for others again... I sense a pattern!)
Confessions: NONE! Woo!! You would not believe my self control for that day, hungry sooo many times and I just drank water!

So I was going to weigh myself on the weekend but just couldn't face it. I lost some weight over the holidays thanks to our previous Holiday Challenge and started to feel a bit better about myself again but if I get on those scales it will all be gone. For ages now I have lost my interest in all things 'social' because I feel so bad about myself. Still not back to wanting to go anywhere (so the excuses will keep coming, sorry friends, it ain't that I don't like you, it's that I don't like myself! Ha! How philosophical does that sound! Actually, it kind of resembles another phrase "It's not you, it's me!".

Wow, this blogging thing is very cathartic! I think I better stop now before I reveal my inner secrets!

Ciao!

Day 1 - continued

So it is the end of my day and it has gone REALLY well so far!

I got home about 5 and saw a box of chocolates on the bench, usually I would have taken one or two but I knew I would have to own up to it in here so they ALL stayed in the box! One small step...

Dinner was a bit of a disaster, my aunty cooked it, there was about one spoonful of meat in it and the rest was all vegetables. That was fine and the taste was good but spread between all of us I got about 3 spoonfuls (literally!) and that was it! So we were all starving after and resorted to toast which, I know, is not so good!

Had a migraine coming on all day, had them almost every day for the past couple of weeks, hit me a whopper just after dinner so I went to bed! So no more food for me! Just woke up then and the only thing I can drink then is water so that's what I have now! I drank a whole big drink bottle full of water today, so it was just that plus my coffee this morning for liquids. It was a skinny latte by the way too!

So that was all from me! Ooo! And taking some of the advice from the tip I put up from Zanshin I need to plan my lunch for tomorrow! I have some more soup but I think two days in a row is a bit much. Well, time to head to the kitchen and sort something out! I'll let you know how I go!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Day 1...

Well! It is Day 1 and I think these blogs are going to have to be short as I can't seem to find much time at work to write them up funnily enough!

Started the morning poorly, was rushing to work and didn't have time for brekky so I grabbed an apple muffin from the cafe. I only ate half of it though so is that only half a point I lose?

I then had soup for lunch (no bread, woo!) and I am still REALLY full, so maybe there is some truth in the 'Eat Breakfast' rule!

Well, that's it for now, I'll put the rest of my day up tomorrow morning, for now I'll leave you with a thought I was sent that I thought was interesting:

"The Secret to Fat Loss
You want the secret to fat loss?
Well, you're not going to like it.
It has nothing to do with Green Tea, acai berry gummy berry juice, or the Master Cleanse.
Instead, the secret to fat loss is a state of mind. Once you're in it, you can't fail.
So here it is...
"Once you accept how HARD it is to lose fat, then it becomes easy."
Do you understand what I mean?
It's like saving money.
Once you understand and accept how much discipline is required to save money then it's easy and becomes second nature to do so. You understand the difficulty but just do it automatically.
It's the same with fat loss.
Once you understand that you must...
- Plan, shop, and prepare your meals in advance...
- Do three high-intensity workouts per week...
- Keep yourself active on off days and keep your butt off the couch for at least 30 minutes...
- Develop rituals that help you avoid night-time eating...
- Take time to set goals and to plan solutions for every obstacle that gets in your way each week...
Only then will fat loss become second nature to you, so much so that you couldn't get fat if you tried!
Seriously, once you "get it", you literally couldn't get fat if you tried, because your mind is on autopilot to stop you from binge eating or from skipping workouts.
So work on that...apply that secret mindset and you'll succeed.
You'll lose as much body fat as you want.
You can apply this to any aspect of your life and you'll experience success beyond your wildest dreams.
If only you accept the reality of the situation.
The secret doesn't come in a pill, potion, or powder."

I'm not on a Diet EITHER

Well Lou, I've got my blog all ready! Since I am running late and need to leave I am going to borrow a message from my friend to explain why I am doing this (names may have been replaced):

"My friend (Lou) and I have decided to create blogs to keep track of our 6 Week Challenge. For 6 Weeks Lou and I will not be using the 'D' word....instead we will be challenging ourselves to simply live a healthier lifestyle with good food, exercise and whatever else we come up with during this time.We will be blogging the good/bad things we eat, any ideas we come up with for healthier eating habits, our feelings as we go, what exercise we've done, any inspiration we've come across, any struggles we face, successes / failures and so on and so on."

More to come tomorrow, for now, I have to run off to pay for some carpet!

Catch you tomorrow!
